Siglo XXI Spanish Language Insititute – Dr. Alonso Benavides was born in Arequipa, Peru. He came to New York during the late 50s to study at Columbia University. He earned a Masters degree in Spanish language and literature at the University of Iowa, in Iowa City. He went on to the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he recieved a Ph.D. in political science and literature.
